Fairfield by Marriott Changsha Yuelu – Review

The Fairfield by Marriott Changsha Yuelu is located behind Yuelu Mountain in the Yuelu District of Changsha. In terms of location, it's not particularly ideal for sightseeing – it's more of a passable choice if you're only staying for a day or two to visit Yuelu Mountain, Yuelu Academy, or Orange Isle. It could also serve as a convenient stopover for those driving towards Shaoshan. The main positives are that the hotel is fairly new and reasonably priced. While they don't offer upgrades to one‑bedroom suites, elite members are generally given larger rooms, which is still a nice touch.

The hotel is a low‑rise standalone building with floor‑to‑ceiling windows in almost every room. In fact, the stay experience here feels better than some other Fairfield properties that are located in high‑rise buildings but have small windows. Driving to the hotel requires a bit of caution – it's easy to make a wrong turn because the hotel isn't directly on the roadside. You need to enter through a security gate and then go a little further in. If you're taking a taxi, it's advisable to ask the driver to drop you off as close to the hotel entrance as possible.

For this stay, I booked a base room as a Marriott Titanium member and was upgraded to an open suite. I was quite satisfied with the room – it's spacious and features two separate sofa areas on either side, one perfect for dining and the other for working, so they don't interfere with each other.
