visa application in chicago. what to expect.

applied for my chinese tourist visa at the chicago consulate last week. sharing my experience.

i went on a tuesday morning around 9am. the line was about 30 minutes. not too bad.

bring your passport, printed application form, photo, flight confirmation, and hotel bookings. also bring cash. they didn't take cards.

they asked for my previous china visas. i showed them my old passport with the visa from 2019. they made a copy.

they said to come back in 4 days. picked it up on friday afternoon. smooth process.

one tip. double check your application form before you go. i saw someone get turned away because they made a mistake on their passport number.
