i normally stay in hotels but tried a hostel in chengdu to save money. here's my experience.

the hostel was clean. the dorm had 4 beds with curtains for privacy. each bed had a reading light and usb port.

the bathroom was shared but clean. bring your own towel and toilet paper just in case.

the common area was nice. met other travelers from europe and australia. good place to get travel tips.

noise was okay. some people came in late but everyone was respectful.

cost was about 10 usd a night. a hotel would have been 30.

would i do it again? yes, especially for short stays or when i want to meet people.
