hotels in china. do they all take foreigners?

i heard some hotels in china don't accept foreigners. is that true?

i'm planning a trip and looking at budget hotels. around 20-30 usd a night.

do i need to book specific hotels that have a "foreigner license"?

how can i tell before booking? does trip.com or booking.com filter this?

also, do i need to register with the local police when i check in? i heard something about that.

anyone had problems checking into a hotel as a foreigner? which cities?

first time traveling to china. want to avoid surprises.

thanks in advance.
