5 days in xi'an. terracotta warriors and more.
spent 5 days in xi'an last month. everyone goes for the terracotta warriors but there's more to see.terracotta warriors. obviously. took a bus from the train station. cost about 2 usd. the site is huge. pit 1 is the main one. pits 2 and 3 are smaller but less crowded. spent 3 hours there.
city wall. rented a bike and rode the whole loop. took me about 2 hours with stops. great view of the city. bike rental was like 5 usd.
muslim quarter. this was my favorite. street food everywhere. tried the lamb skewers, the persimmon cakes, and something that looked like bread but was sweet. all good.
bell tower and drum tower. nice at night when lit up. you can go up but the view from outside is fine.
great mosque. hidden in the muslim quarter. very peaceful. looks like a chinese temple but it's a mosque. worth seeing.
big wild goose pagoda. went for the fountain show at night. crowded but pretty.
xi'an is smaller than beijing or shanghai. everything is close. subway is easy to use.
i stayed in a hostel near the south gate. cheap and walkable to most things.
would go back just for the food.
