Fairmont Xiamen
Fairmont Xiamen is relatively close to Xiamen Gaoqi Airport, and it is quite convenient to take a taxi there directly after arrival. The hotel’s hardware and facilities are very good; during the actual stay, it even felt slightly similar to the Waldorf Astoria, which shows it still has a strong sense of luxury—both the public areas and guest rooms look quite upscale.The hotel pool is also quite design-forward. Although it is on a lower floor and lacks high-altitude views, the environmental setting is done very well.
The most praiseworthy part is breakfast: not only is the food quality good and the selection abundant, but the restaurant environment is also excellent. The restaurant occupies an entire floor on a high level, and wrapping around in a circle means it has a 360° panoramic high-altitude view with no dead angles. The food and seating are also arranged around the perimeter, offering a great many choices.
Compared with the excellent hardware, the service seems somewhat ordinary. At check-in, they gave what was called an upgrade to an executive room, but it did not include executive benefits, so it was actually the same as a base room. Still, the flaws do not outweigh the merits—the hardware is indeed very good.
